"Comforted of God"
This collection of Scripture texts, prose and poetry shines the light of God's Word into the darkness of disappointment, illness and bereavement. To those in such circumstances it
provides encouragement, strength, illumination, understanding and comfort.
Over thirty thousand copies were produced during the first half of the twentieth century, bringing relief to many. Over one hundred years have passed since the first edition was
compiled, and yet the basic problems of the human condition remain essentially unchanged; and God's Word has as much to say to those facing the darkest of personal situations in
the 21st Century as it ever did.
Its message of hope still lifts the spirit and draws the stressed, the discouraged and the sorrowful to the Saviour, who is the Prince of Peace.

Psalm 119: A Commentary on the Entire Psalm
Psalm 119 introduces God's Word as a treasury of spiritual resources for the Christian's journey through life. Finding this treasure requires daily Bible study. Meditating on each day's reading promotes growth in spiritual maturity, experience of spiritual renewal, and the Holy Spirit can maintain praise to God in a continuous spiritual revival.
Psalm 119 is the longest of all the 150 Psalms and, perhaps for that reason, its 176 verses are seldom or never read completely either in public or in private
meditation or study. This is an immense loss. It has a great subject: the Word of God. It shows how that Word is a treasure trove of spiritual resources for the highs and lows of
the Christian's journey through life. At the moment of conversion every Christian is enrolled as a student in God's school, and finding this treasure requires daily Bible study.
Meditating on each day's reading helps promote growth in spiritual maturity, experience of spiritual renewal, and the Holy Spirit can maintain praise to God in a continuous
spiritual revival.

Christ is My Beloved
George Stevens was born in Bath, Somerset, England just after World War II. At the age of about fourteen, he confessed Christ as the Son of God, but had no firm assurance of
salvation until he heard the Gospel preached in a small "Brethren" hall in Hounslow. He was in his twenties at the time. Once assured of salvation, one of George's main Bible studies was
"Christ in All the Scriptures". This led to a delight in the Song of Solomon to which he has returned many times during his Christian life. This book is one of the results. George was a primary school teacher for about thirty-two years before stepping down from a headship a few years ago.
The study of Christ in the Scriptures is heart-warming and encouraging at any
time. The author's portraits of Christ in the Song of Solomon breathe life and
reverence into the interpretation of a book that is so often misunderstood. For
the most part, he uses Scripture to interpret Scripture - an exemplary method of
Bible study. Where this is not possible, he has used the characteristics of
natural life to bring about understanding. The Lord Jesus Christ is honoured on
almost every page. Furthermore, he reveals the appreciation of love between the
Messiah and Zion (along with that for the Church); and that Jerusalem can look
forward to a bright future, after a period of severe persecution. This is a book
that stirs up affection for the Son of the living God, leading the reader to
worship the Father whose counsels and purposes are centred, as always, in
Christ.

The
Tabernacle's Typical Teaching
Algernon James Pollock (1864-1957), was the eldest son born to a Christian banker and his wife in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. At the age of eleven he
made a profession of faith in Christ. Early in life he was introduced to leading figures amongst the Brethren (John Nelson Darby was entertained in the home when Algie was
about fifteen). He followed his father into banking, but his true calling was to share the treasure he had found in heaven, and he left to become a full-time evangelist. He was
an indefatigable apologist from the pulpit and in print wherever he saw the Christian faith under attack. He wrote several books, but he is probably best known for over fifty
critiques of deviations from Bible-based, Christ-centred Christianity. His ministry was not restricted to the United Kingdom; he travelled in the USA in 1898, and also visited
Scandinavia, Spain, Germany and India. It was a measure of the international regard for his writings that he was selected to contribute a chapter to Torrey's series on "The
Fundamentals".
This volume is a comprehensive exposition of "types" - people, objects, events, offices and activities - connected with the
Tabernacle, the Priesthood, the Offerings and the Feasts in the Old Testament, which foreshadow their New Testament "antitypes" - the realities associated with Christ Himself.

The Epistle to the Colossians
Written in 1933, but never before published in
either book or serialised form,
Hamilton Smith brings his easy-to-read style and pithy comments to bear on an epistle which is full of practical instruction for Christians, as we are viewed as the body of Christ on earth
linked to our Head in heaven.
"Enticing words may easily play upon our ignorance: rationalism may appeal to the intellect, ritualism to the emotions and superstition to the imagination; but none of
these things will reveal Christ to the soul, or form Christ in our lives. They do not lead to Christ.
To meet all these evils and preserve us from them, the apostle presents Christ. Having received Christ, He is the
power for our walk; we have everything in Him; we are identified with Him; we derive all nourishment from Him."
Hamilton Smith provides once again a great service in this volume in sharing the results of his
own reading and studying of Colossians in order that another generation can enjoy the practical lessons of this epistle.

Extracts from the Writings of
Thomas Watson
The extensive writings of Thomas Watson (c1620-1686) have been a source of encouragement and enlightenment to Christians for over 320 years. However, for 21st century readers
their language, length, and structure often lessen their impact. Hamilton Smith does a great service with this volume in selecting brief, thought-provoking, easy-to-read
extracts and arranging them under topical headings covering the themes of warnings, healing, giving, longing, contentment, poverty, afflictions, persecution, temptation,
contention, preaching, praying, meditation, departing and crowning. The volume might have been called "The Best of Thomas Watson", "Thomas Watson for Dummies" or even
"The Idiot's Guide to Thomas Watson", but we've retained its original title. Light enough to dip into, but deep enough to challenge your every thought and action with practical
wisdom and apt illustrations.

How to Overcome
Back in print after 40 years, and just as topical today as it was when first written, almost 100 years ago. Are you a Christian who desires to live for Christ, know you have the power of the Holy Spirit for this
very purpose, but always find yourself defeated? Then this book is for you! The author looks at the enemies which Israel
faced as recorded in the book of Judges, and how they won victories over them. He uses these as examples to show how the Christian can
overcome five enemies: the World, the Flesh, the Devil, Earthly Things and
Carnal Religion. The battle is on: are you prepared for victory?

What Does the Bible Teach?
Jehovah's Witnesses' Bible study textbook is entitled "What Does The Bible Really Teach?", but a close examination of the Bible itself reveals that what it truly teaches is significantly at odds with their textbook's explanations. This booklet looks at some points of difference in relation to fundamental areas of Christian belief: who Jesus really is, what Jesus has done and will do, and what the future holds for the Christian. Writing in a polite, clear style, the author challenges the Jehovah's Witness reader to take up the Bible without prejudice, examine what it truly says on these vital issues and consider the consequences of accepting or rejecting the truth of its words
