A new book of daily devotions from the author of Footsteps in the Snow.
The interaction between angels and Jesus Christ in the Gospels is a study in itself. Angels were created for holy activity. Hebrews 1:14 describes them as ‘ministering spirits’. Angels witness to the deity, birth and ministry of Christ, and His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane. Even though Christ said He could call on twelve legions of them (Matthew 26:53), angels could only stand in wonder as the Lord of life sacrificed His life for our redemption. The Lord’s work of salvation at Calvary was entirely His own.
But angels were present to announce His resurrection. And we see them doing something interesting. They sat down. In the simple acts of sitting down on the stone that was rolled away, and in the place where Jesus had been laid in the tomb, angels give us vivid reminders of the finished work of Christ and the glory of His resurrection.
The simple objective of When Angels Sat Down is to encourage us to sit at the Saviour’s feet in wonder, to reflect on His glory and His redeeming grace and love.
As Christians, we need to live in the present reality and power of all that Christ has accomplished. May this small book encourage you to do this.
